Back in September when I was in Italy I decided to take a day trip to the town of Assisi, in the region of Umbria. Here are a few snaps that I took along with a brief run down on this beautiful historical town which is a UN World Heritage Site. Read on to see more photos of Assisi
I’m not a big fan of two different solo artists singing in the same song (duets) nor the Italian singer Laura Pausini, but funny enough two of my favourite Italian songs are duets with Laura Pausini ! So ahead of an upcoming post on Italy and as its the weekend, here are two songs for you to enjoy.
The first one is Sei Solo Tu which is really a song by Nek with an appearance by Laura Pausini. Nek by the way is my favourite Italian singer and this song was released back in 2002.
This is a new TV commercial for Heinz being shown in the UK at the moment. Not only is it funny and very true, it also really reminds me of England. Enjoy !
By the way for those who watch British TV,the voice over sounds like Del Boy :)
Whenever I go to Nino’s I spend ages to deciding what to eat. The menu is pretty big but nothing really seems to catch my eye. The food is definitely healthier than a lot of restuarants, but I just struggle in finding something that I think I will enjoy. The pasta dishes are OK, but I don’t like the creamy cheese ones and the tomato based ones don’t seem to use fresh tomatoes. I also wasn’t crazy about their risotto. Anyway this weekend I thought I would give their burger a try. Read on for the rest of the review and the score
It’s not revolutionary, its not cutting edge, but I do think I have finally found the right smartphone for me. I’m going to jump on the Blackberry bandwagon and go for the upcoming Blackberry Bold 2 (or Blackberry 9700 as its officially known).
The phone is an improvement on what is the best Blackberry out there right now. What I especially like with the model is the slimmer design - its almost the same size as my Nokia E65 (just 1cm wider for the screen) and which fits comfortably in my jeans pocket. The previous Blackberry Bold looked too bulky to me.
The size of other smartphones such as the HTC HD2 is something that actually put me off too (I’m not one of those people who tends to walk with their phone in their hand when I’m not using it).
I’m always impressed when someone can pull off a good impersonation of a famous person. Usually the targets are politicians, which most of us have seen, but you rarely see good impressions of movie stars. OK we’ve seen loads of Clint Eastwood, Arnold and Stallone impressions - those are pretty straightforward. But here are 5 clips which are so good, you’ll swear its the real actor. Oh and you’ll be laughing too !
1. Impersonation of : Tom Cruise
This is taken from the comedy Superhero Movie. The movie was one of the worst I have ever seen - except for this 2 minute clip of genius. The guy does Tom Cruise to perfection - complete with the laugh.
As some of you may already know I’ve been looking to make the switch to a Smartphone but can’t really decide which one. I’ve had a look at the I-phone which I think is not worth the money and recently I’ve been leaning towards the Blackberry, but waiting for a new model to come out. Well now it has. The Blackberry Storm2 is a touch screen Blackberry which is supposed to be a big improvement on the first Blackberry Storm that came out a year ago and flopped big time because of its unfriendly touch screen and lack of features - It didn’t even have wi-fi !
If you work in Kuwait there is a big chance you have either been sent an email with “FYNA” or at least been copied in the email with it mentioned. FYNA is a phenomenon which, as far I know, only happens in companies in Kuwait. It is usually sent by a supervisor to the people who report to him/her or sometimes by a secretary on behalf of someone higher in the company.
If these emails are sent often enough by someone, they usually end up not even bothering to write a “Dear ….” or “Regards”. The weird thing about FYNA is that I have never seen it abbreviated into four letters…until today when I was CC’d in an email. Click here to find out what on earth I am talking about
Just got back from visiting Beirut with my friends - this goes a long way to explain the lack of blog activity by the way:) . It was my first ever trip to Lebanon so I was really curious to see what the place is like, especially as I have heard so much about it.
Here is the run down of my visit :
Getting there: Took Jazeera Airways for the first time. I heard lot of people diss this airline and I have no idea why. The ticket was so cheap (KD 32 return with check-in baggage allowance and all taxes). It was on time and the return flight actually arrived 20 minutes early ! Seats were comfortable and leg room was decent (although I picked an aisle seat which helps). You pay for the snacks, but the flight is only a couple of hours so you don’t really need to eat anything. The timings to and from Beirut are really good.
Accommodation : We rented a 2 bedroom serviced apartment at Orient Palace Hotel which is in the Hamra area next to AUB and a short walk to the sea promenade. The place was well furnished and new. It had a nice balcony where you could sit out with a table, the weather was great so we used this a lot. Click here to read on about the places I visited and more photos
While I was over Italy I heard a song on the radio which sounded very familiar, but was completely different from the original. It was an acoustic version of the 50Cent/Justin Timberlake song Ayo Technology ! I thought the original version was OK when it was released but this remake sounds amazing. After a bit of research I found out that its by a Belgian singer called Milow and is a huge hit in Europe ! Here are a couple of clips:
The first one is the official video of Milow’s version of Ayo Technology - the video is a bit weird but the song is great. The second clip is of Milow doing an improvised version of Snoop Dogg’s “Drop it Like Its Hot” at a radio station. When you consider that he only had less than 10 minutes to prepare his version, it’s unbelievably cool.
