Luckily my hiatus hasn’t been for as long as five years, even if to some of you it might have felt that way :) Well it’s a new year, so a fresh start. And I bet you can guess what one of my new year’s resolutions is. That’s right, keep updating this blog and don’t abandon my wonderful, loyal readers. I appreciate also the encouragement I’ve had these last few weeks – various methods have been used from gentle questioning about what happened to my blog to outright insults LOL !!
Well I’m back (again) and ask you all to give me another chance *hands clenched together*– well we are not even in the first week of 2010 people so I’m sure there’s still plenty of goodwill out there ;)

A couple of months ago Creamfields announced that it was holding one of its famous outdoor dance music festivals in Abu Dhabi and I have to say I was really excited about it. In fact I had more or less decided that I would be going. For those who don’t know, Creamfields organize a huge festival in the UK every summer featuring the world’s best DJs and dance acts. They even release CDs of the events. So obviously when I heard it was only going to be a short flight away I couldn’t wait for it to happen.
Well the event is taking place this Friday and I still haven’t bought tickets. And I am not going to. The organizers didn’t announce the line up for ages and when they did I was majorly disappointed. The headline acts are Underworld and Calvin Harris. Underworld were famous for the Born Slippy song which was way back when the movie Trainspotting was released and they have done little of note since.
Calvin Harris has had a couple hits recently but not someone who I would rush to see live. Other DJs announced have either had their day and no longer big names or relative unknowns. All in all a BIG let down and definitely not worth my while flying over and booking a hotel for a couple of days.

On the upside I’ve got quite a few things to blog about and to kick things off again here’s a recent commercial I saw that will make you chuckle. This Pepsi Max commercial is one of the funniest I have seen. Enjoy :)
One of the things that annoys me is the plastic packaging they use for many small electronics. You know the type that is vacuum sealed in plastic and it is almost impossible to remove without the help of a specialized tool ? I mean what is the point of making it so difficult to open?
So I was very pleased to read recently that Amazon are going to start selling products with stress free packaging. This will not only make sure that I can open the package without having to swear unnecessarily and use sharp instruments but also it will be good to the environment as there will be less waste.
Unfortunately there are only 30 or so products on Amazon that offer this type of packaging but hopefully more and more items will be added as I’m sure most customers would prefer it.
Web Designer Depot have listed 40 of the funniest Poster Ads. Some of them are really clever like this one for Nutri Balance Dog Food which jokes that if you don’t give your dog the right food he’s going to get you into trouble. (I actually didn’t get this one at first until I looked carefully at the bottom of the curtain :) )
Practically every movie star has his/her own website. Nothing new there. And most of these websites are regular looking, maybe with a bit of flash media -but nothing special. Maybe that’s because most of them are ‘normal’ people. Well at least compared to the off beat Jim Carrey. The design of his website is just astonishing. If you’ve seen any of his recent family movies like Lemony Snicket’s you’ll probably know what to expect.

Oh and some pages may take a while to upload - believe me, its worth the wait (but if you have a slow internet connection, you might have to wait till you get to the office to check it out properly) :)
I have been reading about the Squeezebox radio by Logitech (above) and it has to be one of the coolest gadgets I’ve seen for a while. Basically its a portable internet radio which connects using the wi-fi signal in your house. While I was watching the Chelsea-Man Utd. football match yesterday I noticed something really weird among the spectators, which some of you might also have noticed. The biggest news in the tech world this past week has been the release of Microsoft Windows 7 which replaces the quite terrible Vista. Obviously the Microsoft machine went into marketing overdrive big time, but I think they went overboard with the launch in Japan. They got together with Burger King to launch a special burger to celebrate the launch. Basically put 7 whopper burgers into one and call it the Windows 7 Whopper!
For those who see this as the ultimate food fantasy and have absolute no concern about their arteries (or digestive system), I have some bad news. The Windows 7 Whopper was only available in Japan for one week until 28 October. So you will just have to make it yourself.
But looking at that burger I’m thinking ”there is no way anyone can finish that burger”. And yet Man continues to face such challenges with spirit, bravery and stupidity… Read on to watch something pretty disturbing
