This week’s song is a duet by a group called Bens Brother (who you probably haven’t heard of) and Anastacia (who you most probably have heard of !). The start of the song sung by the lead singer of Bens Brother is quite nice but when Anastacia comes on she really steals the show. What an amazing voice and the song goes from being pleasant to brilliant. Check it out !
I was really pleased to see that Ref Cliff is finally being shown at the cinema here. The movie came out ages ago in China (in two separate parts) and I saw it in London in the Summer. There are two reasons why you should watch this film in the cinema.
1- Its in Chinese and therefore you need to have subtitles - for those who go to ‘unofficial sources’, you’ll know its not always easy to find movies with subs (especially Arabic if needed).
2- Its an epic made for the cinema with amazing cinematography and breathtaking battle scenes.
3. It’s one of the best movies I have ever seen. (Sorry did I say two reasons ? Well the third one is most important)

Something new for the blog for 2010. As music is one of the things I enjoy most, every week I’m going to post my song of the week. Just really sharing one of the songs that I am listening to at the moment.
The song of the week this week is ‘Get You’ by James Morrison. As some of you already know, I’m a big fan of James Morrison - he has a great voice and has great songs. What more do you need ?? This song is not on the original version of his album, “Songs for You, Truths For Me” , but is on the deluxe version which got release a couple of months ago. To me, its one of his best songs. Let me know what you think !
Unfortunately I can’t embed the video clip here on the blog so click [HERE] to see it on You Tube.
UPDATE : Broken link to the video clip is now fixed !
With all the football on at different times and on different satellite networks, chances are that you are going to miss a game which you wanted to watch. Even after the game ends, its always a pain to try to find the goals on You Tube.
Goalstube.com is the best website to catch every goal from every major game shown on TV. All the major leagues are shown, including Champions League, FA Cup and the current African Cup of Nations tournament going on. If available they will also put clips of the game’s highlights.
Apart from such a wide a range of games covered (they even show clips from the Turkish Cup if anyone is interested!!), the clips are listed in the order the games are played and the site is very easy to navigate.
You can visit the Goalstube website by clicking [here]
I am a regular Starbucks customer. I’ve probably tried everything on the food menu but unlike most people when it comes to coffee I only order the Coffee of The Day. Call me a traditionalist but to me Mocha’s,Lattes and worst of all Caramel or Toffee-nut lattes/macchiatos are just not coffees. You can’t even taste any coffee. And as I have my coffee amaro as the Italians call it (ie. no sugar), I can’t even drink those sweet ‘coffee’ drinks.
Anyway if you are a regular coffee drinker you might be interested in the first of these tips. The second is about the Starbucks muffins.
One of the major films coming out in 2010 is the movie version of the greatest 80s TV show, The A-Team and now the trailer has finally been released.
Personally speaking I have my doubts that the movie will capture the spirit of the 80s show, for example UFC fighter Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson certainly looks like the original BA, but is his acting and chemistry with Murdoch going to match ?
The trailer looks OK at the start, but really picks up at the end. So I’m still undecided. Check out the trailer below:
NB. For those who don’t know what The A-Team is, BA is the mean looking black guy and stands for Bad Attitude :)
Al- Manara Bookshop, one of the first and best book stores in Kuwait, have got a great sale on at the moment. ALL their books are 1/2 price !!
And before you start thinking that they’re going to be old books from years ago (as I did when I heard about the sale), a lot of them are very recent and they have a pretty impressive selection. Especially in the travel section where they are selling all the popular guide books from Time Out to Fodor’s and Lonely Planet. Most of the travel guides are from 2008 and 2009. I picked up the Fodor’s guide books to Italy 2008 and London 2009 and paid around KD 8 for the two.
They’ve also got a decent selection of other categories including language books, novels and a big selection of children’s books.
Al Manara Bookshop is in Salmiya opposite Eureka electronics, next to The Video Club.
After Avatar nailing film of the year for 2009, I’m looking forward to what 2010 offers when it comes to movies. There are a lot of preview guides out on the web right now talking about what new films will be coming out, but by far the best one is on Premiere.com. What I like about it is that’s all on one page, they give a brief (sometimes funny)description about who’s in it and what its about and, best of all, most of the trailers are included ! Read on to see my top 5 pick of films for 2010 and the link to whole list of 45 movies
I finally got round to watching Avatar this weekend at the IMAX at Mall 360. Even though it’s been out for a while here in Kuwait , I have been waiting to watch it on 3D, which is really how it’s meant to be shown. So I was hoping 3D on IMAX would make it extra special.
Plot :
Almost impossible to explain in brief way so expect the following - Sci-Fi, fantasy, blue aliens which have some human features, humans impersonating the blue aliens (Avatars), humans attacking the aliens on their planet, aliens fighting back. Oh and throw in a couple of moral messages “Protect our environment” and “respect natural habitats of foreign people”. Read on to see my verdict and my top 5 tips for watching Avatar on the IMAX
