FYNA
If you work in Kuwait there is a big chance you have either been sent an email with “FYNA” or at least been copied in the email with it mentioned. FYNA is a phenomenon which, as far I know, only happens in companies in Kuwait. It is usually sent by a supervisor to the people who report to him/her or sometimes by a secretary on behalf of someone higher in the company.
If these emails are sent often enough by someone, they usually end up not even bothering to write a “Dear ….” or “Regards”. The weird thing about FYNA is that I have never seen it abbreviated into four letters…until today when I was CC’d in an email.
Now most of us know that FYI is an acceptable abbreviation for another often used office email message ( ”For Your Information”), but FYNA ??
What I am of course talking about is that classic office order “For Your Necessary Action”. Which basically means : I have no idea what I’m supposed to do with this, it looks like too much work, I can’t be bothered, so take care of it.
We will never get rid of “For Your Necessary Action”, but I hope FYNA will not become an accepted abbreviation. Its bad enough being lumped with other people’s work, without also having to put up with a four letter order !!

hahaha….never seen that abbreviation before…probably your boss is even too lazy to write “For Your Necessary Action”, that’s just taking it to another level !!! I get alot of “please advise”…which means read the e-mail and give me a brief summary !!!
Thankfully it wasn’t my manager who doesn’t write those sort of emails (I was just copied in the email). I think I’ve only been FYNA’d once, but they took the time to actually write it out in full !
My ex-boss used to email and/or text me back with the letter “K”…abbreviation for “OK”…..he was a very busy guy!?
Now that is lazy !
