5 Things That Tell You You’re On A Flight to Kuwait

Hi Everyone. Just arrived this morning from Italy (via London). As you’ve probably guessed I’ve been away these last couple of weeks.   Sorry about the lack of posts, but have no fear - Normal service is resumed !!

Will be posting about some of the places I visited during my travels but I thought I would start off with a list. Having been lucky to travel, I’ve spotted a few things which always tell me that..yup….I’m on the BA flight to Kuwait (economy class).

Here are the top five things that I always notice :

1. You arrive to your seat and find that the overhead lockers are completely full and there is no where to put your hand luggage. You try the locker on the other side of your aisle and that’s full. You go down one locker..full. You go up one locker..full. And the weird thing is that there is not even anyone in sitting in your row of seats !

2. Almost everyone is carrying duty free bags filled with chocolate (expecially boxes of Flake). They do sell it here you know !

3. Most of the guys on the plane are wearing polo shirts - probably Ralph Lauren, especially the ‘Big Pony’ style or the one with three horses running (which must be the worst Polo design ever !)

4. A family who are sitting apart decide that its their right to demand that they all sit together. This involves playing major guilt trips on male passengers to give up their seat to unite this dispersed family. BA staff, who are obviously desperately trying to prepare for take off, are also brought in push through the seat change.

5. As you touch down in Kuwait there are all of a sudden a ton of SMS/BIM ring tones as people have either not trurned off their phones or (more likely) turned it on as they were landing. In one case I remember a guy received a phone call and proceeded to have a full blown conversation.  This was much to the annoyance of the air stewardess who seemed shock by what was happening. It was obviously her first time on the London-Kuwait route LOL !!

    Welcome back!

Very true! Especially points 2 and 5! I dont understand the choice of chocolate they bring back, u would think it would be chocolate they dont sell in Kuwait like Wispa! I remember one girl having a big box of Kit Kat to take back!

Welcome back Mix!! I probably could repeat Roger Feder’s shot after watching it so much..lol!

So true…Especially about the flake. Speaking about Flake there was someone I knew that asked us to bring back a box of small flakes, u know the ones they use in the 99 ice-creams. Anyway like u said they do sell flake in Kuwait, so we told the guy that they do in fact sell Flakes in Kuwait. Not the small ones he replied….so we thought “why don’t u just cut a normal size flake in half!!!”

    What is it with Flake!!!

You forgot to mention that as soon as the plain touch down, half the plane is up and queuing all ready for the doors..
And you get the flight stewards almost begging everyone to sit down.

gasman : Thanks, glad you liked it !

Night Flower : People are strangely obsessed with Flake here. I’ve never been a fan. Too crumbly…
    -
Patrick : Yes, classic ! The familiar sound of seat belts all being unbuckled while the plane is still moving !!

Ansam : Well I can understand people applauding when they land with Kuwait Airways, they’re just happy (relieved) the plane actually made it :)

The most striking thing for me whenever i take a flight to kuwait is the amount of luxury brand shopping bags that women do carry with them… channel, gucci, LV, ….. To me, very very shocking!!
