The Best Baqlawa in Kuwait ?

  Mr. Baker Baqlawa

With Ramadan here, its time for all of us to enjoy all the great sweet that’s available here in Kuwait. For me, Ramadan is the only time I eat baqlawa (even though its available throughout the year). I asked someone in the office recently where I could get really good baqlawa and they told me Mr. Baker. This actually surprised me, because for me Mr. Baker has always been about their cakes and desserts.

Mr Baker's Baqlawa

Above: Close up of the Baqlawa. (There are 12 rows of baqlawa in the box – unfortunately the ones on the right hand side of the box had already been munched and so aren’t in the photo :) )

When I got to Mr.Baker, I couldn’t see any baqlawa on display and when I asked, they already had boxes behind the counter ready and prepared with a selection of different types. The box cost KD 5 and I would say was probably around 1 Kg in weight.

When we got home we all tried it. Overall opinion was that it tastes great and is definitely lighter and less greasy than a lot of other baqlawa. I would say it is also less sweet. So very good baqlawa, but I’m not sure if this is really the best in Kuwait.

Are there any other places you recommend I try, or is Mr. Baker really The Baqlawa Benchmark ?

aaa : You could be right although it tasted freshly made. I love Mr. Baker’s 4 flavour cheesecake, trouble is its too heavy after fatoor.

N : Mr. Baker’s is less syrupy which I prefer. I thought it was much better than the ones I’ve bought from Carrefour and Sultan.
