John Hughes RIP

I wake up this morning to hear the news that the director and writer John Hughes has died. Many people will not know who John Hughes was but they’ve seen and most probably loved a lot of the movies he made. Almost all of his best movies came out in the 1980s but you would enjoy them just as much if you watched them today. I only found out about some of his movies around 10 years after they were made. The movie which launched him and the careers of so many actors was the classic Breakfast Club, but from 1985-1990 he made some of the all time great comedies.

Movie such as Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Planes Trains and Automobiles and Home Alone (still the biggest money making comedy of all time). A couple of other personal favourites are Uncle Buck and National Lampoon’s European Vacation.

I will leave you with a scene from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off which has to be one of the best ever musical scenes in any movie. Enjoy !

So sad…he was only 59 and appeared to look healthy.

59 is young and he didn’t really do much for the last 20 years which is strange
