Nespresso Coffee

After my disappointing coffee experience at Coffee Republic at 360 Mall I thought I would go and visit the Nespresso shop on the 1stfloor of the Mall. I already knew that Nespresso sell machines for the home that make proper Italian espresso coffee in 30 seconds. The beauty of their machines is that it is so simple to make the espresso. You just slide in a tab of coffee (looks like the mini milks on the airplane) in to the machine and out comes the coffee. Absolutely no preparation. So I decided to check out the shop to find out about more.
The guy working there was very helpful and actually invited me to try a freshly made espresso of my choice. And what a choice there is of different coffees ! There are actually 16 different types to choose from ! These are not exactly flavors but different levels of strength and intensity. Even so, there are 4 different types of decaff ! Anyway I tried the “Roma” espresso which was great. The guy then showed me the separate milk steamer which connects to wall socket to make the frothy milk for cappuccino. I chose another (lighter) espresso and he actually made the cappuccino for me to try. I have to say it was pretty close to the real deal – I would have just used fresh and not long life milk.
How Much Does It Cost ?
The simple espresso maker costs KD90 and the electric milk steamer KD40. There is a combined espresso maker with milk steamer but the guy advised me it was better to go for the separate milk steamer as it works out cheaper and does a better job.
I wouldn’t know how much a machine like this would cost but I suppose the price seemed OK, but I was also curious about the coffee tabs. These can only be bought from the Nespresso shop. And this is what surprised me. A box of 10 costs KD 1.750 which is 170 fils per coffee. Not bad when you consider how much we pay at Starbucks and co !
If you are a real coffee lover its definitely something worth getting. The machine is small and easy to clean. The quality of the espresso is also much better than I have had at most of the coffee chains here.
I was looking for a clip to show how it works and then I found a funny commercial with George Clooney. Have a look !

The quality of the NESPRESSO coffee is very good even by the italian standard. I tried it here in Rome last week with my brother in-law who loved it so much he tried 4 different tastes and was going for the 5th before I stopped him! I didn’t know they sell them in kuwait! Will tell him about it. thanks for the post.
Good thing you stopped him after #4 !! It’s strong stuff ! I agree, its as good as the coffee served in Italy !
mm yabeelaa!
have you heard of tassimo?
i wonder what the comparison breakdown of those would be..price/coffee quality etc etc
Never heard of Tassimo but I think it will take something very special to beat Nespresso. Funny you should mention the price, I checked how much the Nespresso coffee machines cost in England and they seem to be MUCH cheaper.
What a great idea. I am more of a tea drinker here. I suppose u have to only buy the coffee from Nespresso to work with the machine.
From someone who isn’t a coffee drinker what would u recommend I try first?
The latest simple Nespresso machine in Italy costs 160 euros (65KD) cheaper than kuwait! I’m also not sure if the branch in Kuwait has the ones that just came out??
I have one… not the same as the one in the picture above. And I love it.
Night Flower : Yeah only the coffee capsules sold by Nespresso work in their machines. I would suggest going for one of the lighter Nespresso coffees, max one a day if you are not used to coffee..its pretty concentrated !!
Ali : The branch in Kuwait has two designs of the simple machine – not sure how new they are. They do have a lot of other more advanced, bigger models.
Ansam : Actually I can’t remember if they have the exact one in the photo. I spent more time looking at all the different coffees I was going to taste LOL !
I agree with you 175 Fils per coffee is nothing compared to Starbucks single shot of espresso! I had the Le Cube last week and I am in love with it.
Indeed amazing taste and premium quality.
Enjoy it :)
I saw the Le Cube when i was there in the shop. What a great design. Definitely the best looking of all the Nespresso machines out at the moment.
Hey Mix, I’m looking for a compact/portable Beer brewing machine….could you put you research skills to work and find me one…btw cost is not an issue. Cheers (literally)
I don’t think you’ll find one of those in Mall 360 ! Actually I’m pretty sure you are not going to find one of those in Kuwait ! But hey at least you know where to go to get some good coffee :)
